Fist of god frederick forsyth
It injects a lethal dose of unreality into an authentic historical setting. What would have happened, Forsyth wonders, if Saddam Hussein really had succeeded in building himself the mother of all weapons? The Fist of God is, in other words, one of those harsh, manly thrillers full of ammo and jet aircraft splitting the sky with an angry howl, and, well, it isn't a sonnet sequence, that's for sure. In his early novels Forsyth achieved a well- deserved renown by introducing fierce documentary detail into the unreal world of the thriller. The Day of the Jackal slid a meticulous assassin through the keyhole of French history, and followed his pursuit of De Gaulle with impressive sang-froid so much so that we were disappointed when reality intruded at the end, when he missed - just because normal history had to be resumed. Along the way, readers could pick up interesting tips on how to fabricate a bogus passport, how to stash a gun in an exhaust pipe and so on.

The Fist of God - Wikipedia
Hero Mike Martin is a British Special Forces agent sent to Kuwait after the Iraqi invasion to assess the situation and build a resistance movement. When the British discover the existence of Saddam Hussein's double agent, Jericho, who had been feeding information to Israel, Martin is smuggled into Baghdad to contact Jericho and learn about Saddam's battle plans. What Martin finds out is that Saddam has a doomsday weapon he is planning to use against the Coalition Allies when they launch Operation Desert Storm, information that propels the book to an explosive climax. And this is just the main plot line of Forsyth's detailed, epic-length story, which begins with the killing of a gun merchant in Brussels and eventually includes such real-life characters as George Bush and Norman Schwarzkopf.
